RESOURCES – Inquiry

Inquiry wondering what is waiting to be uncovered.

Inquiry can be of great help in unlocking the innate potential to become fully aware of what lives inside and of the reality we live in.
Combining appreciation and inquiry means that we see and work with what is, without choosing or judging.

There are several ways to use the Inquiry method.
Here, we like to inform you about inquiries with the questions “Who is In?”or “What is in?” and “Who am I?”
Using these methods is a seeking for truth and understanding oneself on a deeper level.

“Who is in?” – Group Inquiry

Using the question “Who is In? ” (or “What is In?”) often happens in groups.
It is a highly structured method, often offered in fully catered retreats of 3 to 6 days.
The program involves being in nature, meditations, breathwork, yoga, meals, and moments of rest.
The question can be seen as fishing to catch something that is still hidden in the river of life.

The Process in general:
The question to work with and instructions on how to go through the process during the short sessions will be provided by the group’s facilitators.
In general, participants engage in 45-minute sessions where two people having smaller 5-minute sessions.
Sitting opposite to each other and looking into each others eyes, one person asks the question and is attentive.
The other lets the question resonate inside till an answer arises from the depths of the subconscious.
After 5 minutes they change their role.
After 45 minutes, there is a short break and a change of partners.

“Who am I?” – Self Inquiry

This method, recommended by Ramana Maharshi, is meant to discover that the “I” we know exists only through identifications and the roles we play in life.
To understand that none of this information is answering about the real “I”.

The ‘I’ is a concept of the conceptual, cognitive mind and that is okay in daily life.
We may need it to open bank accounts, to get a passport, drive the car, book our tickets to join a retreat, etc.
But the question, however, directs our attention to something that was and is always there. Behind what we do, think and feel.
Who opens the bank account. Who wants to renew the passport? Who is the one who is the actor on life’s podium?

The Process in general:
This method can be used as a reflection after some time or as a daily meditation practice.
You can help yourself to remember the question and take some time for the answer to come.

For example by sticking papers with the question at specific places, like in the hall, the kitchen, the bathroom mirror, etc.
Or install a reminder on your phone. And of course you can also sit with the question for some time.

Wishing all fishermen and seekers a joyful journey.
