The cauldron
In fairy tales, the cooking pot, as depicted in the picture, is often seen as the vessel in which a figure of wisdom and power, brews her potions.
In the I Tjing, the book of oracles, the cauldron is used to cook food for people who gather for sacrificial feasts.
Guests bring their own food, and when processed together, it becomes a very nourishing soup.
The cauldron is not just a vessel, it stands for connection, transformation, and rejuvenation, symbolizing the transformative power of communal gatherings.
A sacred happening when the sangha meets
When the sangha gathers for a meeting, a retreat, a meditation or singing together, it often feels like a sacred happening.
The love, the grace, the blessings…
The tears, the laughter, the deep sighs, and breathtaking moments…
And it is not only the goodies that go into the pot, also the bitter and sharp tasting stuff…
These are the intangible ingredients that make the communal experience so enriching and transformative.
It inspires us to see the potential for change and growth in our own lives.
And more than often it is so heartwarming that we have to share,
no matter where, with whom, with birds, snowflakes, a tree, a passenger…
